Cora's Care Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals, children, and families in need. Our mission is to provide support, resources, toiletries, and other basic necessities to the underserve population. We believe that every person deserves access to basic human necessities, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. We work tirelessly to serve those in need and ensure that everyone receives the assistance they deserve.
Founder/Executive Director
Johnette Whichard, the executive director/founder of Cora's Care Foundation, Inc. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is a mother of 2 who relocated to NC to provide a better quality of life for her children. Johnette is a child welfare social worker with over 20 years of experience. Her professional experience includes working with CPS, Licensing, Respite, Prevention Services and Kinship families. Her professional experience allowed her to work with a diverse population. Johnette is also a trauma informed coach, parent educator and darkness to light facilitator.
As a social worker, she was able to identify the barriers and the struggles people face when they don't have what they need. Her goal is to provide support, resources and basic necessities to break the challenges and build their confidence.
After the passing of her mother, the late Cora L. Boomer, Johnette turned her grief into her passion. This is what inspired her to create an organization that could help break down barriers and provide support to those who need it the most. Johnette is dedicated and will continue to work hard to make a difference in the lives of those she serves.
